“Strati”: A crime audio series by the Park is on air on Spotify

STRATI is an audio crime series set among the ruins of the archaeological area of the Ports of Claudius and Trajan (Fiumicino) and the Archaeological Area of Ostia antica, where past and present intertwine in an investigation rich in mystery and history. The project, produced by the Archaeological Park of Ostia Antica and created by Machineria, was conceived with the aim of combining compelling storytelling with the promotion of the Archaeological Area of the Ports of Claudius and Trajan.

A very unusual investigation for Detective Horace Milton: the body of a young woman, perfectly arranged as if for an ancient ritual, forces him to seek the help of the archaeologist who works in the archaeological area of the ports of Claudius and Trajan, where the incident took place. The story of the past will be the key to solving the mystery in the present.

With “Strati”, the Archaeological Park of Ostia Antica is experimenting with new forms of communication to reach an increasingly diverse audience. It does so through podcasts, but in the form of fiction and crime stories: a path that has been little explored by museums until now, a detective story set in the Archaeological Area of the Ports of Claudius and Trajan and in the Archaeologica Area of Ostia antica, in a dialogue between the monuments and the archaeological landscape that forms the backdrop to the action.

The podcast series is available to listen to on Spotify in English: https://open.spotify.com/show/4B9cvUVzojsaaRWIdhbANa?si=4AG2QMdrRtmAPjCZ3OFC_g

“Strati” is a project by the Ostia Antica Archaeological Park, produced by Machineria. Written and directed by Dario Cannizzaro. Starring Francesco Ventura, Beatrice Festi, and Michele Vigilante. Music, sound design, and mixing by Philippe Gozlan. Executive producers Daniele Dalledonne and Luca Melchionna. Production assistants Paola Broll and Alice Liber.

With ‘Strati’ (Layers), the Archaeological Park of Ostia Antica – Communications Office aims to show how the sites within the Park are repositories of stories and can stimulate the creation of new narratives in the eyes of visitors. Some activities already carried out by the Park are already moving in this direction, such as “Archeoracconto”, a public archaeology project conceived by Stefania Berutti and Marina Lo Blundo, or the more recent Pop Up Roma project, which took place within the Ostia Excavations.
