On display here are some rare and valuable marbles from Italy, Greece and Egypt: a block of\u00a0breccia dorata<\/em>\u00a0from Montagnola Senese, two large blocks of\u00a0breccia di Sciro<\/em>, from the island of Skyros, and a column shaft in\u00a0fior di pesco<\/em>\u00a0from Eretria, on Euboea.<\/p>\n

The large slab of\u00a0verde antico<\/em>\u00a0from Thessaly and that of\u00a0serpentina moschinata<\/em>\u00a0from Wadi Attalah in Egypt are discards from sawing marble slabs whilst the roughly carved column shaft in\u00a0marmo bigio<\/em> from Lesbos with incised rings testifies to an intermediate stage of the working process.<\/p>\n
